OK, I am considering this tractor over all other brands I've looked at for the past month. Other brands looked at are JD 790, Kubota 3000, TC29, Kioti, Century. All four wheel drive with FEL. Now the Mahindra is a 2 wheel drive however they are heavier and have the feel of a big tractor and not a compact. They will even use bigger implements.
I want to know if these IH copies are proven tractors and hold up to their claim. The bigger the better is what I hear. I have 15 acres and may want to disc and other things that may require a bigger tractor and I'm afraid a small compact from the mfgs listed above will be overworked.
Also, please give me some insight on warranty, parts and general thoughts.

You are correct, for field work/tillage heavier is better with all other things being equal. I do not have any personal hands on experience on the Mahindra tractors, but have heard good things about them. I have an IH 2444 40 HP PTO, same basic chassis I think but one step down in HP. This should be a good tractor, but at 35 hp is sort of an entry level for some of the work you described. If you get into any serious tillage, baleing and stuff like that I would go up at least 10 HP or so.
I am assuming you have a dealer nearby and can check out out what you are buying. My only concern about these series of tractors might be the brakes. I see they are dry disc, same as my IH2444. Mine are a bit weak as I understand that all of this IH series is, not bad just not the greatest brakes in the world. Mahindra might have made them better than the IH they copied though.
What did you not like about the Kioti DK tractors ? They seem to be good tractors and heavier than most of their comparable competition. ....

The Kioti felt like it was sub-standard and I did not like the feel of the FEL and the way it was mounted. Same with the Kubota, I did not like the FEL mounts that remain on the tractor when removed. As far as compacts go from the ones I looked at, I am more towards the JD790. FEL, engine accesibility, responsiveness of all of the controls. I was looking at the Mahindra for more power if I do decide that I want to disc or plow. For 10,800 you get more tractor. Just concerned with maintenance, warranty, etc.

I know it's more money, but I would check out one of the 00 series Mahindra. The 4500 comes in 2WD, gives you the 10 extra HP and is a much more modern design. I was impressed when I looked at the 4WD version. It was just too much tractor for my needs.

I would suggest the 990 or 790 from John Deere if you want a good dependable, and straight forward gear shift 2WD tractor. If you plan to mount a FEL, I think you are making a huge mistake not getting 4WD. There will be sizable percentage of weight will be on the front axle with the FEL and this will severely hamper rear wheel traction without huge amounts of ballast weight, not to mention severely poor performance and traction on slopes. (speaking from experience, that is why I have MFWD tractor now) Just my opinion and 2 cents worth. Good luck on your decission. ....

With the larger Mahindra tractors loss of front wheel tracton is not a problem. I have a 3800 lb (base tractor weight) IH 2444 (2wd) and it WILL dig. Rear traction is no problem. When I am doing serious digging the front is often lifted off the ground anyway so 4WD would not help much. Power steering I have and it is nice.

If you are looking that large I might look at the MF-231 or MF-451. They have dependable perkins diesels and are fairly well built. The last I looked the MF-231 2 wheel drive was around 10K.

I have a Mahindra C-35. Basically the same tractor as the 3505-DI. Somehow they used basically the same frame and engine but ended up with a little more compact tractor in the C-35. It is a good tractor. I have 17 acres and it handles it with ease. I haven't done any discing though. But with the weight of the tractor, plus adding water to the tires. Traction shouldn't be much of a problem. As for warranty and parts. Mine had a three year warranty and the dealer guarantees parts in two days. However, the main american assembly plant is here in Texas. Mahindra has sold a bunch of tractors in the US. They are the third largest tractor manufacturer in the world and ANY sub 100 HP tractor you buy is built overseas. Mahindra has commited to the US...so I say go for it! ....
